Showcase: 1/8 MG Figurerise Son Goku

Here is the 1/8 Figurerise Son Goku kit. I got this kit around May or June and just got it done on Tuesday.

It took me a long time since I don't get to work on it everyday, plus I'm still new to model building, so everything took extra long time. Well, it's done now so I'm happy!

I learned a lot from building this kit. It's very different from building Gundam or other scale models I have worked on before. There were seams that took me a long time to fill and smooth out and also I had to plan ahead so I know what parts I could glue first and what parts I had to wait after I painted them.

I've also learned how to do some pre-shading and post-shading with my airbrush, which really made the model look a lot better!

Apply decal on this figure was tough. It had really curving contour so the decal doesn't set well at all. I had to do the best I can and hoping the Mr. Mark Softer will some how make it conform to the surface.
Picture time! Sorry for not having any work in process photos... I'll try to take some next time. Comments are welcome! =)

I do have program with paint chipping/scratches. I did apply clear coat to protect my paint before I do my decal and then flat coat again to seal, but when I try to move and pose the figure, I had lots of scratches. How do I avoid that? please let me know!!

New Toy: Dig it! Stegosaurus - part 2

After many hours of digging around, my wife finally got the dinosaur out. I definitely don't recommend doing all the hammering and digging inside the house unless you have it in a container and cover your work area well. It gets kind of messy!

Here are some work in progress and the final product. Hope you like it. =)

Also remember to check out part 1.

New Toy: Dig it! Stegosaurus - Part 1

I went to a local electronic and tools shop one day hoping to get some parts to use for my modelling project. The store had some educational toys for sale and I saw this toy kit which is quite interesting and probably a lot of fun to play with, so I got it for my wife! =)

I wonder why they carry these kind of stuff in a electronic shop!? Anyway, here is what I got and some pictures to show. Enjoy!

My wife is working on it right now, hopefully I can show you some update and the final product soon. Stay tuned!

Thoughts: A New Beginning

Welcome everyone!

Few years ago I was introduced to an anime series called "Gundam OO". I had heard about it and how good it was but never had the chance to watch it, so I've decided to give it a try. I thought it was quite good and the mech designs were pretty cool!

One day I was doing some window shopping with my wife and we came across a toy shop and I saw a box of the 1/144 Tieren Ground Type which was on sale for $15, so I picked it up and started to work on it. I had a great fun with the build and posing it around. I was instantly hooked!

Since then I have been following Gundam news and purchased many model kits here and there. I've watched the original Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 as well, it's really was pretty good for 1979 standard.

In this blog, I hope to share my journey in Gundam and scale model building, toys I've collected, plus other related or fun cool things I managed to find along the way. I will share my work in process, tips I've learned or discovered and most importantly, meeting new friends and other people who shares the same hobby as me.

Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you'll enjoy!
